L Family lifestyle session// In home // Port orchard Washington // PNW photography
I had a session this past weekend with the cutest little family. We had set it up for a couple months back and had to reschedule so we finally were able to make it work. They were so cute and relaxed – Kingston their little man was the cutest and I had such a fun time shooting for them. The lighting situation in their house was a bit tricky but I made it work – with a lot of lighting manipulation – and tons of trial and error – mixed with a bit more editing then the typical session to make sure that the colors looked similar in each room – because every room had a different type of lighting. If I am being honest sessions like this scare me – I know what my camera can handle, and I know what I am capable of – however lighting is either a photographer’s best friend or worst enemy there generally isn’t an in between. I do not like artificial light, and I will use my flash when absolutely necessary however it’s usually against my will because I don’t like the look it gives to my photos. So, with this session I tried just about everything, my reflectors, flash, as much window light as I could let in and a whole lot of steady hands for a slow shutter. These images are a bit moodier than we tend to edit – but I love how it turned out. I think that it just really draws you in. The session itself was super relaxed and quick because when you are working with littles you really truly are working with a ticking time bomb; you have to be fast in your posing and even faster in the shooting. We did about a 45 Mn session of this little crew and I felt confident in saying I think we could wrap it up and then the little man was done. In home lifestyles aren’t typically something do a lot of but honestly, I kind of loved it. I think it’s important to get out of your comfort zone and do it CONFIDENTLY. Nothing grows if its stagnant and trapped inside a box – I am looking forward to taking on more sessions like this and getting out of what I’m used to.
Take a peak at this cute little family and their handsome little man.
